Free Clean Up Weekend

The City of Shamrock is planning to allow free dumping at the City Landfill during the first weekend in May.  Residents will be allowed to take household items and debris on Friday, May 2 and Saturday, May 3 and dispose of these items free of charge.  The landfill hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm and is closed from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm for lunch.  Due to the recent winter weather and high wind events, residents are urged to remove any damaged or broken trees, limbs or shrubbery.  In addition, this will be a good time to check and see if there are any items which need to be removed from your property and disposed of.  This event is for residents of the City of Shamrock.  Construction materials are not included in the scheduled free event and a fee will still be assessed, and any contractors delivering materials will be responsible for the cost of disposal.

There are designated materials which are prohibited from being placed in the landfill.  Please note the list of prohibited materials below:

  • Refrigerators, freezers or AC units unless the unit has been tagged by a licensed professional certifying that the Freon has been evacuated.
  • Chemicals of any type
  • Tires of any type
  • Batteries of any type
  • Asbestos Waste

  • Liquid Waste
  • Regulated medical waste
